The Montana Centennial Train went on three separate journeys. First was a trip around the state of Montana. Second was a round trip from Montana to the New York World's Fair in 1964 with a long set of passenger cars attached. Third was a return trip by some of the cars to the New York World's Fair to go on permanent display for the duration of the fair in 1964 and 1965. The Exhibit Cars and Horse Cars eventually returned to Montana, where most still reside.
