American Freedom Train

"All Aboard America! Here comes the Freedom Train..." sang Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner. And come aboard the people did.

For 21 months in 1975 and 1976 the 26-car American Freedom Train crisscrossed the land, welcoming over 7,000,000 visitors. Millions more came out to greet the train as it passed through their towns.

The American Freedom Train was, by far, America's biggest Bicentennial event.
